Staff scheduling

Staff scheduling built around the people in your shop

Strut’s staff scheduling workspace helps authorized managers plan shifts and publish a schedule the team can follow. Employees see their published schedule, while managers keep draft changes separate until they are ready to share them.

Coverage

Plan the people before the week fills up

Start with the technicians and service advisors assigned to the shop. Build shifts with start and end times and planned meal breaks, then review coverage across the week or month. Reusable templates help with recurring shift patterns without making every week a copy of the last one.

  • Week and month schedule views
  • Shift templates and planned meal breaks
  • Staff and shop context on each shift

Publication

Keep drafts separate from the team’s schedule

Managers need space to prepare a schedule before employees rely on it. Strut separates draft planning from published shifts. Review the intended recipients and schedule update message when publishing. SMS delivery depends on messaging setup and recipient eligibility; publication is not a guarantee that a text has been delivered.

  • Draft planning for authorized managers
  • Published schedule for employees
  • Review schedule updates before sharing

Daily operations

Connect planned coverage with recorded attendance

A shift says when someone is expected. A clock record says when they worked. Keep both visible in the time workspace and review attendance separately from the plan. Customer appointment scheduling remains its own workflow for booking vehicle visits and organizing shop capacity.

  • Personal schedule for team members
  • Attendance and timesheets alongside shift planning
  • Separate customer appointment booking

Buying questions

Fast answers before a demo.

Short answers to the questions shop owners usually ask before they book a walkthrough.

Is Time enabled for every Strut company?

Time is an opt-in feature and is off by default. Ask the Strut team about enabling it for your company during a demo. Access also depends on your subscription, shop membership, and assigned permissions.

How is staff scheduling different from appointment scheduling?

Staff scheduling plans when employees work. Appointment scheduling plans when customers bring vehicles in. Use staff shifts to organize coverage and the appointment calendar to organize customer visits.

Can employees see unpublished shifts?

The personal schedule is based on published shifts. Draft planning and team schedule controls are reserved for users with the relevant management capabilities.

Does publishing a schedule send an SMS?

Strut supports schedule update messaging, including SMS when the company setup and recipient preferences allow it. Review recipients and delivery status; a published schedule and a delivered message are separate states.

Does a scheduled shift automatically count as worked time?

No. Scheduled shifts describe the plan. Clock events, breaks, and approved corrections provide the attendance record used in timesheet review.
