Employee time clock

An auto repair shop time clock that keeps the hours clear

Strut’s employee time clock records when your team starts work, takes a break, and finishes a shift. Managers can review attendance and corrections, approve timesheets, and export locked hours for their payroll workflow.

Daily attendance

Record the day as it happens

Give employees a personal clock with a clear working, on-break, or off-shift state. Paid and unpaid breaks are recorded separately, so the end-of-period review starts with an understandable record. If a connection is lost, employees must reconnect before submitting a punch; an offline action is not silently treated as saved.

  • Personal clock-in and clock-out actions
  • Separate paid and unpaid break totals
  • Live attendance view for authorized managers

Review

Resolve missed punches before approval

A forgotten clock-out should become a reviewable correction, not an unexplained edit. Employees can request corrections, and authorized reviewers can inspect the recorded hours and supporting details before approval. Complete active sessions before finalizing a period so the exported record reflects finished work.

  • Missing-punch and correction requests
  • Submission and approval workflow
  • Recorded evidence for timesheet review

Payroll preparation

Hand off a finished set of hours

After review, lock every timesheet in the period before downloading the payroll CSV. The export is an hours handoff for your payroll process. It does not replace a payroll provider, calculate statutory deductions, or promise an automatic payroll integration. Keep your pay rules and final payroll checks with the person responsible for payroll.

  • Review and approve before locking
  • Close active sessions before exporting
  • Download a CSV of locked hours

Buying questions

Fast answers before a demo.

Short answers to the questions shop owners usually ask before they book a walkthrough.

Is Time enabled for every Strut company?

Time is an opt-in feature and is off by default. Ask the Strut team about enabling it for your company during a demo. Access also depends on your subscription, shop membership, and assigned permissions.

Is employee time the same as time billed on a repair?

No. Employee time records attendance and breaks. Billed labour belongs to the repair and invoice workflow. Strut’s workforce time clock should not be described as a flat-rate labour tracker or automatic job-costing system.

Can technicians request a missing-punch correction?

Employees with access to their personal time workspace can submit missing-punch or correction requests. Authorized managers review the request; employees do not approve their own hours through the personal clock.

Can I export the hours to payroll?

Strut supports a payroll CSV after the period’s timesheets are locked and active sessions are closed. Confirm the file format and any import mapping with your payroll provider. This is an export, not a native payroll integration.

Does the time clock work offline?

Clock actions require a connection. If an employee is offline, Strut asks them to reconnect before clocking and does not claim the punch has been saved.
